Dear Editor l I WRITE regarding your headline article in the Daily Bulletin on Thursday, December 15, “Pedal Power” in which, it is reported, the Balearic government is providing investment to the tune of 575'041 euros. I wish to put on record that cyclists have to cope with a very dangerous route (cycle route signs in place for over 12 months) from Campanet to Pollensa. Some road surface sections near Fangar contain large, deep holes and loose rubble the full width of the road!! This is the main route used by hundreds of cyclists to reach the Inca/Pollensa areas. In the past, it was used by local, expats, and hundreds of holiday cyclists on expensive light weight cycles. Due to the BAD surface condition, many cyclists have been avoiding this route and are now being exposed to the traffic on the main roads. I am surprised that the “Caves” proprietors do not complain more, as they have been moaning about a big drop in cycling visitors. I hope the Minister of Tourism and the local authorities will read this letter and use some of the cash being made available to asphalt the problem areas concerned.
