Michael Douglas talks love not war or culture

Hollywood star Michael Douglas's Valldemossa cultural centre, Costa Nord, is all set to be opened to the public on March 25 and the inauguration of the centre is expected to be a “Majorca meets Hollywood” affair. Wife-to-be Catherine Zeta-Jones is said to be accompanying Douglas for the opening, and close friends Jack Nicholson and Danny Devito have also been linked with the ceremony, as well as father Kirk Douglas, who has only vsiited the island once, some five years ago. Douglas is passionate about his Majorca project, which will include a multi-screen projection of a tenminute film about the Sierra Tramuntana, the area of the island which surrounda his home and which he has fallen in love with. The centre will also include space for exhibitions, a restuarant, a museum and a small shop. Douglas admits that the idea of having his own restaurant “just ten minutes” away from his S'Estaca estate is rather appealing. When Douglas presented the cultural centre last summer, he did not want to talk about anything else, not even Zeta Jones. Then at a recent meeting with a small group of reporters to promote Douglas' new movie Wonder Boys, one journalist with blue hair got fed up with all that oversaturated disarmament stuff and wanted the 55-year-old star, the son of actor Kirk Douglas, to cut to the chase to discuss love not war.
