24-year-old killed amb four injured in car crash

One person was killed and four others injured in the early hours of yesterday morning, when two cars collided on an infamously dangerous stretch of road at Ses Costes de Xorrigo, on the road between Palma and Cala Rajada. According to the traffic police, the accident happened just after six o'clock when a Renault Megane, in which a family was travelling, collided with a Ford Escort. Police said the crash was head-on and both cars were complete write-offs. Witnesses contacted the police immediately while traffic was brought to a stand-still with both cars blocking the road. Police, ambulances and Palma fire crews were on the scene within minutes and firemen had to cut the driver of the Escort free from the wreckage. All three passengers in the Megane were taken to hospital, along with the driver of the Escort. Unfortunately the 24-year-old passengers in the Ford died at the scene, as a result of the serious multiple injuries suffered.
