A joint Hispano-French summit meeting was held in Santander yesterday and one of the chief matters on the agenda was the fight against terrorism. French president Jacques Chirac was welcomed in Santander by Spanish Premier José María Aznar.In addition to co-operation in the fight against terrorism, immigration was also high on the agenda. Communications were also studied, including the high speed train between Perpignan and Figueres, the Somport tunnel, which has been completed but is not yet open, and the re-opening of the Pau-Canfranc line. European Union affairs were also discussed at the meeting, attended by high ranking ministers and officials.
