The festivities to mark San Joan continued in Ciutadella yesterday with some excellent displays of horseman-ship. Two riders, holding hands, ride at full gallop through the main town square watched by thousands of people. Yesterday, there were exhibitions of jousting and general horsemanship all in honour of San Juan. A record number of people from the Balearics and the Spanish mainland are attending this year's events. The fun continued last night (Sunday) with open air concerts and other outdoor attractions. The highlight of Friday's events included the traditional battle of the hazelnuts. Hundreds of kilos of the nuts were thrown. Some villages in Majorca are holding their own events in honour of San Juan. On Friday night there was a firework display in the Parc de la Mar in Palma.
