A 25-year-old male driver, identified only as J.L.C. died yesterday morning when the car he was driving was involved in a head-on collision with a lorry along the Palma to Manacor road, near the exit for Villafranca. According to the Guardia Civil, the accident happened at 8.20 am and the car caught fire on impact. Sources for the 061 ambulance services said that the young man was trapped in the vehicle and died as rescue workers battled to get the victim free. Over the past three days, 20 people have been injured in traffic accidents and two killed in the Balearics.
