Over one hundred of the world's finest classic yachts are in Palma for the XVI Almirante Conde Barcelona-II Copa SAR Juan de Borbón sailing regatta which starts today. Organisers of the spectacular regatta, which this year has been moved along the Paseo Maritimo to the old port of Palma, in front of the Cathedral, said yesterday that although 80 classic yachts had registered to participate in what is one of the largest gatherings of classic yachts in the world, more than expected have sailed into Palma and registered to race at the last minute and yesterday afternoon the organisers were expecting the numbers to break all previous records. This year sees the return of some of the regatta's most regular and popular classic yachts such as Ivanhoe, Rosalind, Boleroand Ilex but a number of other important classic yachts have also made the trip to Palma for this week's regatta which will take place in the Bay of Palma.
