A year ago today, August 29'1999, was the last time British resident in the Port of Alcudia Yvonne O'Brien was seen alive, her brutally battered and tortured body was later found by the daughter of her rented-property's owners. On the bedroom wall were the words Sexo, amor, paz (sex, love and peace) splashed in her own blood. Today her brother Philip Graham will arrive in Majorca, not only to commemorate the first anniversary of his sister's death at her tomb in Palma cemetery, but also to try and find out how the police are getting on with their investigation. But it appears that further frustration is all that Philip Graham and his family can expect as police sources have confirmed that while the murder investigation is still being carried out, little ground has been gained with regards to catching the sadistic killer. At the time psychologists and leading criminal experts talked of a serial killer, while other sources said the killer was an ex-lover. Earlier this year the police released a photofit of a taxi driver they wanted to question and announced that coinciding with the widespread distribution of the photofit, police were to start retracing their steps and questioning former neighbours and friends in the Port of Alcudia in order to make sure that no stone was left unturned.
A year on and police no closer to catching sadistic killer
