The Bulletin news-desk was inundated yesterday with calls from people who said that they saw the fireball reported in yesterday's Bulletin. Five seperate witnesses told police on Wednesday that they had seen a fireball crashing into the sea off Cabo Blanco. Initially, police thought that they were dealing with a light plane crash. But yesterday three more witnesses came forward, telling us that they had seen the fireball in various locations and at different times. We received sighting reports from Cala d'Or and Palma Nova. One local astronomer said last night “it could have been a piece of so-called space junk.” The observatory at Costitx is still investigating the case.
