On Sunday two U.S. Marine officers flew from Sicily to present a Superior Public Service medal to Majorca-based American resident, Joseph Mamo, who is a former Marine officer and a veteran of the Korean War. The award ceremony took place at the Santa Ponsa Country Club and among those who attended was the U.S. Consular Agent Tumi Bestard. Following the award presentation there was a lunch in honour of Mr. Mamo. The citation praised Mr.Mamo's activities as President of the United States Navy leader. Both Marine Corp officers are based on the assault ship Saipan. Today the local Navy League will be involved in the visit of the aircraft carrier George Washington.
