The Majorcan Union party yesterday tabled a motion for a railway line to be built between the airport and Peguera before Calvia Council. The Majorcan Union party, led by the President of the Insular Council of Majorca, Maria Antonia Munar, maintains that a railway, which the party described as an eco-friendly mode of transport, would help to ease congestion on the roads during high season and also make the tourist resort a more attractive place with less cars. The party is aware of the logistical problems such a project would pose, but the UM believes the end justifies the means.
