Although the Spanish royal family officially ended their Easter holiday after hearing Mass at the Cathedral on Sunday, celebrations throughout the island will continue today, tomorrow and next Sunday. The royal family was greeted by a crowd of about 2'000, who cheered and applauded when they arrived. The only member of the royal family who was missing was Prince Felipe, who did not come to the island this Easter. Sunday's highlights were the processions known as L'Encontre, commemorating the meeting between the Risen Christ and His Mother, held early in the morning in towns and villages all over the island. In Felanitx, for example, more than 2'000 persons turned out to watch the procession. The statue of Christ was carried from the Convento de Sant Agusti, and the Virgin from the parish church, the meeting taking place in Sa Font de Santa Margalida.
