The Balearic Government announced yesterday that on Monday will be signed paving the way for the gas link to València, on the mainland. The Balearic Minister for Innovation and Energy, Píram Villalonga, said that during the signing of the accord with the gas company ENAGAS, the exact cost of the ambitious project, wichwas estimated at 45'000 million pesetas, will be confirmed. The project has come under fierce attack from the Balearic opposition Partido Popular party, wich has claimed that the underwater pipeline is dangerous and the project too costly. The Minister said that the project is safe and will have minimal impact on the environment.
