The Balearic summer season will be another good one, according to the Spanish Secretary of State for Tourism, Juan Costa. Opening the STEPS, Spanish Tourism Exchange for Professionals, trade fair in London yesterday, Costa said that over the past month, Balearic holiday sales in the UK have increased further and that coupled with the positive evolution of alternative markets the Balearics are going to have a very good summer season despite the slump in the German market. The outlook for the British market to Spain is very positive, especially to the islands. Costa, who met the Balearic Minister for Tourism, Celesti Alomar, for talks at the Balearic stand, said that he expects the British holiday sales to Spain to show an increase of three per cent this summer. Alomar, after having spoken to leading tour operators and travel organisations, agreed that the British market will save the season. In the UK, the Balearics are the third top selling destination in the world this year, Alomar said.
