One in every 288 school children aged between three and ten in the Balearics is abused, according to the Balearic Ministry for Social Welfare, nearly double the figure collated by the social services. Every year the Ministry launches a new campaign and during the last operation, a total of 216 children were treated for abuse. The Balearic Minister for Social Welfare, Fernanda Caro, said yesterday that a new team has been set up to try and combat the phenomenon in the new school year.
