Watchout, Lloyd Webber is watching

Palma's Centre Stage Productions have the pleasure of performing the first amateur production of “Evita” anywhere in the world. The musical will be performed at Palma's auditorium on the 7th 8th and 9th of September and rehearsals are already underway for the production, which sees Andrew Lloyd Webber himself keeping a close eye on proceedings. Lloyd Webber has checked the talent, competency and capability of the members of Centre Stage productions and has given them permission to proceed. His company, The Really Useful Group, is not in the habit of bestowing accolades where they are not deserved. At any point during the preparations for the show, Andrew Lloyd Webber or his representative could be flown to Palma at 24 hours notice first class and put up in a five-star-hotel at the expense of Centre Stage. If he attends the dress rehearsal and finds it not up to standard, the performnce could be cancelled at a moment's notice. Two of the best seats in the house at each performance must be reserved for the Really Useful Group, a small price to pay for performing the amateur premiere of his work. Centre Stage have impressed the Really Useful Group in the past. They have already produced Jesus Christ Superstar and Joseph and His Amazing Technicolour Dreamcoat at Palma's “Teatro Principal”. Reviews and reports for those two performances were very positive, giving weight to Lloyd Webbers decision that “Evita” will be best performed here on Majorca. Evita in Palma will be sung in Spanish and the cost of its production will be six million pesetas. There are one thousand two hundred seats to be sold at each performance. The original slides shown on-screen at London's West End performance will be displayed at the auditorium, including those of the leading lady's visit to Spain and her meeting with General Franco.
