Gwyneth Paltrow has fled Majorca because of the heavy rains which put a damper on her plans to get a sun-tan. She left Majorca yesterday, just 72 hours after her arrival and headed for Barcelona. However, she vowed to return...but when the sun was shining. Paltrow was staying in a beautiful farmhouse on the outskirts of Soller, in Fornalutx. She had arrived on Majorca on Saturday, sucessfully dodging press and photographers at the airport, and made it to her holiday haven in relative secrecy. Paltrow may well be planning to catch up with old friends on the island. She starred in “A Perfect Murder” with Michael Douglas a few years ago and as they have been friends ever since, it is likely that when the Douglas' arrive, they will invite Paltrow to their beautiful Valdemossa home. Gwyneth Paltrow currently looks set to star in a new romantic comedy described as an American version of Bridget Jones's Diary. Film company Miramax have bought the film rights to the as yet unpublished novel Me Times Three, written by Alex Witchel. Paltrow will not only star in the film but act as one of its producers. The book is about an assistant editor at a woman's magazine during the 1980*s. The woman is devoted to her fiance, a Wall Street moneyman who personifies all her yuppie lifestyle fantasies, until she realises he's secretly engaged to at least two other women. Paltrow has been out of the gossip headlines recently after her breakup with long time love Ben Affleck, she is now rumoured to be seeing actor Luke Wilson. She has recently been holidaying with Madonna, Guy Ritchie and Rocco in France and is set to meet up with Ritchie's best friend Matthew Vaughn and his girlfriend Claudia Schiffer during their stay on the island which began last week. The film star's last project was helping launch a film by friend Alan Cummings. He enlisted her help and acting skills in the movie, along with that of Kevin Kline's, for no more than the price of a cup of coffee. The film “The Anniversary Party” is set against the backdrop of a couple's sixth anniversary party and was made in 19 days in the house of an architect friend in the Hollywood Hills. Cumming said “who could possibly believe you could get a line up like that for the price of a pint? That's what friends are for. They even did their own make up!” Paltrow is in Barcelona for the time being, seeing some of the art and architecture which made the city famous. It is unclear when she will be returning to the island although she has rented the Soller farmhouse for two weeks.
