Balearic President Francesc Antich yesterday expressed his confidence in the new promotional tourism campaign. Although we're not going to break any records this year, the tourism campaign is a positive move, he said. It's the same old song every summer. Everybody says that it's going to be a bad season, but the figures never turn out to be as negative as initially forecast, Antich added. But the President stressed that the season can only really be assessed once it is over and all the data is available. However, in the meantime, Antich believes that the campaign to help the Balearic tourism industry adapt to the changes in the global industry and project a professional image in keeping with the region's position as a market leader is a very sound idea. Earlier this week the Balearic Minister for Tourism unveiled a 200 million peseta promotional campaign aimed at the United Kingdom and German markets to consolidate the Balearics' position as a market leader.
