A peaceful demo was held in Palma yesterday in protest at the death of a demonstrator in Genoa on Friday. The demonstrators, who numbered about 100, included Balearic labour minister Eberhard Grosske. The demonstration took place outside the Italian consulate shortly before noon and lasted about 15 minutes. There were no incidents. During the meeting, there was a minute's silence in memory of Carlo Giulani, shot by an Italian paramilitary troop while the G8 summit was being held. Banners with slogans such as “Another world is possible” were carried. The word “assassins” was scrawled in black paint outside the Consulate, where a cardboard coffin was laid.
