Economy Minister and Deputy Prime Minister Rodrigo Rato said the Spanish economy is ready to weather the global slowdown, Rato said. “The international environment is much less positive than it was a few months ago,” Rato said, noting that it is the first time in 25 years that the world's most important economies, namely the US, Japan and Germany, are facing a crisis at the same time. “But the Spanish economy is performing well,” despite the global slowdown, ”because it has exceeded its (growth) potential over the last few years.”
