The new public transport macro-station which is being built in Manacor is expected to be completed by the end of next year. Work on renovating the old railway station, which should have started earlier this year, will get under way at the end of this month. SFM Majorca Railway director Jose Antonio Santos said yesterday that the new stretch of railway running from Inca to Manacor will be opened in the Spring of 2003. The new station will cover an area of 12'000 square metres with the centre-piece being the 600 square metre old station building. The station will also include parking for 11 buses and 50 vehicles. The vast gardens surrounding the building will also be re-landscaped.
