While the Balearic Minister for Tourism appears to have given in to protest, saying that despite the new Balearic logo featuring Eivissa, the island will still be promoted as Ibiza in Europe. The head of the Ibizan Tourist Board, Jorge Alonso, yesterday said that he is seriously concerned about the slow pace of hotel bookings for the coming season. Alonso said “they're not good,” adding that Ibiza is losing its position in the international market. Apart from the obvious problems the Balearic tourist industry is facing, Alonso said that Ibiza's poor image, in certain markets, is not helping.
