The ex-wife of the Guardia Civil corporal Francisco Orejana Garcia, found dead at his Palma Nova home this week, is believed to have confessed to the murder yesterday. Titiana Liliana was arrested on Wednesday. Detectives had been tailing her all week after contradictions were spotted in her initial statement and one of the victim's neighbours spotted Liliana leaving Garcia's flat on the day of the crime. The Guardia Civil is still keeping a veil of secrecy over the investigation. They do not want any unnecessary complications in the murder investigation, but it is understood that, during further questioning yesterday afternoon, Liliana apparently admitted to the crime. While police continued questioning their prime suspects, detectives and a team of forensic experts from Madrid spent the day combing Liliana's flat in Calle Malaga, where she lived with her two children, whose father was 33-year-old Garcia. Detectives are still hunting for evidence, in particular blood samples, to demonstrate that she was at Garcia's flat on the night of the crime, as a neighbour has told police. Detectives are also determined to find the murder weapon. The crime is believed to have been one of passion - the couple separated a few years ago and Garcia was recently involved in a relationship with a younger woman. The ex-wife is believed to have been jealous.
