500 students marched through Palma yesterday in protest over the government's educational reforms and the new quality education law. Both the National and Local Police were out in force and planned to shadow the protest through the city, but the students out foxed the police at the start of the rally, changing the protest's route to the Town Hall. Outside the Town Hall they mounted a sit in protest before moving on to the Partido Popular's head office. Student across Spain are angry over the Spanish government's policy to give more priority to private education and reduce funding in the public sector. The protest, despite the confusion and poor organisation, passed off peacefully, but police spotters did take note of the organisers and key activists.
