More than 300 people attended an amusing and highly informative Bulletin lecture by Colonel Blashford Snell at the Costa Nord cultural centre. The Colonel spoke of the need to protect the environment and underlining the beauty of the Sierra de Tramuntana mountains which run across Majorca. He had words of praise for the Balearic government with their eco-friendly policies. He praised Michael Douglas for setting up the Costa Nord cultural centre. Tiffany Blackman, Director of the Tourism Promotion Body, IBATUR, said that the environment and the tourist industry should go hand-in-hand. Guests at the event included, Don Pedro Serra, Chairman of the Serra Group, publishers of the Bulletin, Balearic tourism minister Celestí Alomar, British Consul Michael Banham, American consular agent Tumi Bestard, Peter Stringfellow, the Anglican Chaplain the Revd. Ellis and many others including high level representatives from all the major British tour operators and airlines, leading local hoteliers and business people.
