Three people were injured yesterday after a gas explosion at a sea-side cafeteria in Cala d'Or. According to the local police a gas inspector had been checking the equipment when the explosion took place. The inspector, the owner of the restaurant and an employee were injured in the blast. All were rushed to hospital after suffering multiple injuries. The explosion caused extensive damage. An eye-witness told the Bulletin that the explosion ripped through the cafeteria and was similar to a bomb blast. The cafeteria's terrace was a mess of broken furniture and glass. Four people, believed to be tourists, were treated for cuts and bruises at the scene. Police will be launching a full investigation into the explosion. The cafeteria remained sealed off yesterday.
