Senegal's Ambassador to Spain, Abass N´diour yesterday spoke of the problems Senegalese immigrants are having in renting property in Majorca. Currently on a visit to Majorca, Abass N´diour, said that he has heard from the president of the association for Senagalese immigrants in the Balearics and the biggest problem is finding rental properties. The ambassador said that there are cases where as many as seven immigrants are having to live in very small flats. Abass N´diour said that he has spoken to both Palma city council and the Balearic government about helping to resolve the problem, caused primarily by some property owners refusing to rent to immigrants - according to the ambassador. The association had an offer to build its own block for immigrants rejected by the local government which feared that it would create a new ghetto like Son Banya.
