THE Balearics and Madrid have the dearest petrol in Spain, according to a ministry of finance report quoting figures for February 2003.
The average price of lead-free petrol was 84.3 cents a litre, but was 84.8 cents in the Balearics.
Super and diesel were also higher than the national average, and beaten only in Madrid, the only community which applies a surcharge to finance its regional health service. The cheapest prices are to be found in Navarre, Asturias and the Basque country.
