Staff Reporter OFFICERS from the Guardia Civil's anti-drug squad (EDOA) in the Balearics have intercepted 1'000 kilos of hashish in a garage in Ciudad Jardín in Palma and at industrial premises in Sineu.

According to official sources, the operations resulted in the arrest yesterday morning of a 44-year-old man, identified only as S.M.S. An investigation had begun in May when there were suspicions that the alleged culprit, who had a previous criminal record, was acquiring large amounts of hashish and then acting as a distributor.

At that time, the man was placed under close surveillance, after which it was confirmed he frequently visited a garage in the area of Ciudad Jardin in Palma and industrial premises in Sineu. It was also proven that he held talks with various people, apparently connected to the world of drug dealing.

A number of vehicles were also seized believed to have been used in connection with the alleged offences.
The Guardia Civil reported that investigations related to this case remain open, and as such, further arrests are not discounted.
