By Humphrey Carter PHASE two of Operation Summer, the royal protection operation, has been mounted this week ahead of the royal family's arrival over the weekend. Yesterday, Guardia Civil divers were inspecting Porto Pi naval base where the Spanish royal yacht Fortuna and the Norwegian royal yacht Norge are both berthed. Police marine units patrolled the two mile exclusion zone in front of Marivent Palace and helicopters stood by to start patrolling air space about the royal complex.

The Royal protection squad has started to move into their summer barracks near San Carlos Castle and key spots popular with members of the royal family, yacht clubs, restaurants, etc. are being inspected.

This summer, more members of the royal family then ever will be in Palma. The heir to the throne Prince Felipe's wife, the Princess of Asturias Letizia Ortiz, will officially join the family for the first time in Majorca.

They will be staying at the Prince's new summer residence, Son Vent, on the Marivent estate and will require extra policing.
