News Desk IF the weather conditions do not get better in the Balearic Islands during the next couple of days the outlook for holiday reservations over Easter is “very bad”, said the general director of online travel agency, Rumbo, Ignacio Martos.

This pessimitic outlook is due to the cold fronts that have hit the islands as well as the rest of Spain, and also due to the dates for Easter this year, which is taking place a lot earlier than last year, said Martos. “People have not started to get excited about buying holidays” in beach resorts like the Balearic Islands, he added.
The holiday forecasts “are not as good as they usually are, but you never know what might happen over Easter,” Martos confirmed. “Unless the weather improves this week and the sun makes an appearance, but at the moment the weather forecasts do not look good”, he warned.

The rain came out over Easter last year, but compared to this year Easter holidays were much later in the year, whereas there are only two weeks of sales remaining before this Easter, Ignacio Martos said. “If people buy tickets or not all depends on the weather. When clients see the low temperatures they are put off buying a sun and beach holiday”, he explained. Whatever happens, Martos does not believe that as many tourists as last year will visit the island this Easter.
