No fresh fish for Good Friday

DON'T look for fresh locally caught fish at the markets this weekend, as the war between the fishermen and fishmongers has reached stalemate.
The last catch was sold “outside the island” and the fishing boats won't be putting out to sea again until Monday. The dispute broke out early on Tuesday morning, when the fishermen prevented the buyers from entering the fish exchange. Yesterday, the daily auction was called off at 5.30am when no fishmongers turned up to buy. The fishermen claimed that alternative markets had been found and no fish had been dumped, although boxes of fish were seen in rubbish containers.
