News desk AT a post-game “jolly” at the Mallorca Cricket Club last Saturday, 170 people were treated to a feast of Sri Lankan food provided by the Sri Lankan-Spain Friendship Association.

Hijazy Yaseen is the president of the aforementioned association and a founder playing member of the Mallorca Cricket Club. He, his wife Miriam, Maria Guya, Roshan, his wife Elke and many others took on the unenviable task of catering for five cricket teams plus spouses! It was a hugely successful evening.
Accompanying the delicious food was music provided by Los Casi Guapos, brought along from Cala d'Or by CC member Simon Burnett. The group kindly gave their services free of charge.

The money raised so far by the Mallorca Cricket Club for the Sri Lanka Tsunami appeal, which includes a donation from Menorca CC, is 3'000 euros. Hopefully there will be more to come.

Hijazy Yaseen said that people had been incredibly generous at the weekend, which helps enormously in realisng the Association's hopes of building ten new houses for the homeless in Sri Lanka.

The first house should be completed by the 15th of this month.
The Sri Lankan-Spain Friendship Association continue to raise funds, and must be congratulated on their magnificent work.
