Water losses

SENCELLES
THE Spokesperson for the Majorcan Unionist Party, Joan Carles, complained about the cost of water privatisation in Biniali during the last council hearing. He was under the opinion that the Sencelles town council will have to pay 18'000 euros in 2005 for privatising the water supplies in Biniali. The spokesperson thinks that the water privatisation has not brought any benefits to the residents as the water rates have not decreased. “The excuse the council used to privatise the water, was because the Biniali water network was generating around 6'000 euros in losses per year. However this year the town council is going to have to fork out 18'000 euros”, he added.

If I was the Mayor ......

INCA
POLITICIANS and residents in Inca expressed their views yesterday and answered the question, “What would I do if I was the Mayor of Inca?”. All seem to have a clear idea of their priorities if they one day happened to be the Mayor of Inca. There was an overriding agreement that most would spend money on improving the roads and on increasing safety for residents. They also agreed that they would spend more money on creating more parks and green areas in the city.

Dangerous works

INCA
THE Socialist Party in Inca yesterday said that “the construction works that Majorca Railway Services (SFM) is carrying out in the train station are putting the trains in danger”. The Socialist group is very worried about the state of the train lines at Avenida General Luque, where SFM is carrying out works to both sides of the train lines. “This work to extend the Calle Tren and to create a park area has meant that they are excavating on both sides of the train lines and therefore putting the trains in danger. Also these works are making the dry stone wall of the bridge very unstable”, said a spokesperson from the Socialist Party. He added that with the vibrations from the passing trains or with a lot of rainfall, the whole area could collapse and sink, “which is a great danger for those people travelling on these trains”.
