News Desk THE Socialist Party (PSOE) and the United Left-Greens (EU-EV) criticised the new measures that Palma City Council announced to combat “botellon”, the binge drinking on public roads, in particular the Paseo Maritimo in Palma.

The two political parties said that these measures were insufficient, as they do not tackle the problems concerning the health of these youngsters who drink to excess every Friday and Saturday night. The measures only go as far as tackling the noise and cleaning issues, they state.

In addition they are demanding that the leaflet about how drinking causes sexual diseases and unwanted pregnancies is withdrawn from the public eye immediately. They said that this leaflet has not been written with young people in mind, and will therefore not reach the younger crowd.
