News Desk THE power company, Gesa-Endesa, has calculated that at least 50 percent of all electrical faults are caused by a third party company who carry out work near to electrical cables. “Almost half of all breakdowns that we have suffered this year have been down to a third party”, said the Director of Distribution and Trade at Gesa-Endesa, Andrey Rotger.

These allegations have been made in reference to companies who dig near to underground electrical cables on public roads, without first getting the necessary information about the lines and cables which are underground the land that they are working on. “In January, 10 percent of electrical breakdowns were due to this cause. In February, this was also 10 percent. In March the percentage increased to 32 percent and in April reached as high as 47 percent”, said Rotger. “The most worrying fact is the danger these workers are putting themselves in”, he added, “by law all companies must ask for information about the location of all electrical cables that are lying underneath pavements near to their respective projects.”
