Staff Reporter A PYTHON snake was captured last week after being seen slithering around in a pine forest in Llucamjor. The Consortium for the Recovery of Fauna in Balearic Islands captured the python, which was three metres long and weighed 13 kilos, after a passer-by in the forest noticed the snake's presence.

A representative from the Consortium immediately turned up in Llucmajor and captured the creature, which did not have any type of identifaction and so therefore it's origin is still unknown.

It is illegal to abandon a wild animal or creature in the environment, a spokesperson from the Ministry of the Environment said. The Consortium was created on 26 January 2004 to develop activities to recover wild animals in the islands, as well as capturing hurt animals.
