Cuba and Majorca unite in art

ARTA
CUBA and Majorca have been joined together by art and eight artists, four from Cuba and four from Majorca, are currently creating sculptures in Arta. The idea behind this art event, which has been organised by Arta town council and the Council of Majorca, is to join the two areas together. The artists, Miquel Sarasate, Llorenc Ginar, Joan Oliver and Antoni Morroe from Majorca, share artistic space with the Cuban artists; Tomas Lara, Miquel Gomez, Jose Villa and Juan Quintanilla. All the sculptures that they create will have to represent Arta, and once they have been completed, the town council will set up an exhibition of the work. This same idea will be transferred to Cuba, where the four Majorcan artists will visit the island in November.

All money raised in the raffle was given to the Vicente Ferrer foundation. The shop owners in the town had donated all the prizes.

First female mayor on the cards

SES SALINES
MARIA Bonet (of the right-wing party - PP) is most likely to be elected as the new Mayor of Ses Salines during tomorrow's council meeting. After the resignation by Rafel Serra, who was to succeed the present Mayor Sebastia Vidal, Maria Bonet is next in line to be elected, and with most probability she will become the first female Mayor in the history of Ses Salines. Maria Bonet, 37 years old, is currently the local councillor for Social Services and Health in the Ses Salines town council.

Bridge over water

SENCELLES
THE Ministry for the Environment will be building a bridge at the intersection between the Cami de Mintuiri and the Solleric water channel. This will answer the complaints made by the residents in Sencelles, who state that this road is uncrossable when it rains.
