Staff Reporter THE Palma city council has laid on special security measures for tomorrow's gala concert at the Parc de sa Riera, which is expected to attract as many as 100'000 people.

Deputy Mayor Javier Rodrigo de Santos said that there will be 270 Local and National Police officers, private security guards, firemen, civil defence and emergency services staff on duty. This will be in addition to the council and Emaya work brigades.

De Santos added that there would also be a fire engine, two civil defence vehicles, a field hospital and four ambulances.
But De Santos admitted that the park is new and has not been open to the public, and he appealed to the common sense and responsibility of those attending the star-studded gala to prevent possible incidents.

The gala will last from 6 to 8pm approximately, and De Santos said that the best place for seeing it is Zone A, while giant screens will be erected in Zones C and B.

Twenty monitors, all wearing red T shirts, will guide people to the various areas.
There will be a special parking area for vehicles of the disabled, in Calle Salvador Dali, from the cemetery roundabout to the Miguel Nadal soccer ground.

Parking will be free from 4pm to midnight tomorrow in the car parks of the Via Roma, Santa Pagesa and Marques de la Cenia, and the EMT will provide a free bus service from 4pm until the end of the concert.

One bus will leave from the Calle Bisbe Bernat Nadal (next to the Carrefour car park) and go to Zone A, and the other will leave from Calle Joan de Maragall (next to the GESA building) and go to Zone C.

The line-up at the concert, which will be shown on IB3 television, is headed by David Bisbal and Dover.
