A restaurant well worth a visit - and about to start its second season of trading at the beginning of February - is Xaloc, in San Telmo.
Situated overlooking the beach and sea-front as you enter the village, it has a superb outlook west over the bay toward Sa Dragonera with magnificent views of the sunset for evening customers. Its fare ranges from a list of delicious home-cooked, take-away or eat-in pizzas through to delectable lobster dishes, by way of the most gorgeous frito marisco starter I have tasted for a long time. The service, whilst extremely friendly is efficient and impeccable; the food, whether at lunchtime or in the evening, is excellent and plentiful with a wine list to suit all tastes (and wallets).

In a small village with a larger itinerant population than resident, it has found a niche in the market and, by the end of last season it was impossible to get a table in the evening without a prior booking. In terms of value for money, it is excellent; you can splash out and go for the top end of the menu or, if catering for a smaller appetite or for a child there are plenty of cheaper, but still excellent, options. The range of salads is particularly good and there are options for vegetarians.

There is a light and airy indoor eating area for the cooler months (or inclement evenings!) with an equally spacious terrace for leisurely lunches and summer evening dining. Give it a try!!
