THE Balearics, Catalonia, the Canaries, Andalucia, Madrid and Valencia will be the destinations chosen by 90 percent of the tourists who come to Spain during the third quarter of the year, according to the Tourism Round Table.

Throughout Spain there will be around 22.15 million foreign visitors during the third quarter. The Tourism Round Table brings together 30 of the main tourist companies in the country.

The President of the Round Table, Juan Andres Melian, announced yesterday that the months of July, August and September, historically the busiest time of the year for foreign tourists, will once again break tourism records this year as in 2006 there were 21.4 million tourists.

In this respect, Melian explained that the Tourism Round Table's forecast is that the number of tourists coming to Spain will increase by 3.5 percent.
The tourists' countries of origin will maintain the trend of past years, that is to say nine out of 10 will come from Europe, mainly the United Kingdom, Germany and France, which will continue to be the three main tourist markets.

Melian also referred to the means of transport chosen by foreign tourists, seven out of 10 of whom will continue to come by plane. According to the Table's figures, two out of 10 tourists will come by road, while the rest will come by train.
