PALMA
WHY not start the New Year by taking a gamble on winning one of ten idyllic holiday homes in the mountains of Majorca?
The on-line lottery, 33'000 tickets have gone on sale at 150 euros each, has been gathering momentum and attention all over the world since it was tentatively launched by American hotelier George Scott a few months ago and the first of the draws will take place before the Spring. The ten properties range from studio suites to luxury apartments and houses and all are located in one of the most beautiful and secluded parts of Majorca where Scott has one of his two leading hotels on the island. Each of the properties, which are worth 300'000 euros-plus, the top prize is worth over 500'000 euros, are completely self-contained but have the use of luxury pools, fitness facilities, landscaped Mediterranean gardens and other services which the management of the property will take care of.

It will also take care of the properties being rented out so the lucky winners will also be picking up the keys and the deeds to a valuable Majorcan investment.

George Scott has been developing his 4.5 million- euro holiday home lottery for the past three years and yesterday he said that he is now “ready to go.” A sizeable number of tickets have already been sold to people from all over the world who put their names on a waiting list when the idea was first mooted, but there are still thousands left for those who fancy a flutter on winning a dream holiday home.

It is the first time a lottery of this kind has taken place in Majorca but in the United States, property lotteries are common and have recently started to takeoff in Great Britain.
