FIRST-TIME buyers struggling to climb on to the property ladder in the UK are being advised to try Majorca as they search the market for a home.
Developer Taylor Woodrow Espana claims that purchasers could get a property on the island for around 100'000 pounds. “First-time buyers should consider side-stepping the UK market and look at Majorca,” advised Victor Sague, the firm's sales and marketing director. “It's never been the cheapest overseas destination, but Majorca seems to be holding its own in times of turbulence. So much so, that Taylor Woodrow reports a 20 percent growth in the number of people visiting its developments in Majorca as opposed to last year,” he claimed. “This makes the prosect of first-time buyers getting on the property ladder a real possibility,” added Mr Sague.
He said the island had not suffered from an over-supply of speculative developments unlike some other areas of Spain, so demand continued to be strong.
