PALMA
EX-PATS in the Balearics are being urged to support a demand to reinstate disability benefits currently withheld from British citizens living outside the UK.

The British Government is still considering the implications of paying disability benefits to ex-pats - despite a European Court of Justice ruling that it was illegal to refuse the handout.

Now, British couple Tina and John Hamilton have started a Europe-wide campaign to force the UK government to act on the court ruling.

The couple have started a petition on the 10 Downing Street website to back their campaign and demand the return of the benefits which they claim are illegally withheld from Britons abroad.

Last year, the European Court stated that certain benefits, including disability living allowance, carers allowance and attendance allowance, were exportable to other EU countries.
