ALARO
PERE Sampol, Balearic representative in Spain's national Senate, has secured an amendment to the country's annual budget which will result in Central Government allocating 200'000 euros to the restoration of Alaro castle on Majorca.

Sampol, accompanied yesterday on a visit to the castle by Mateu Marcús - Majorcan Socialist (PSM) spokesman on Alaro town council - said that the historic building belongs to Spain's cultural heritage and as such has been recognised with funding by Central Government. Sampol added that unless vetos presented against the whole of the national budget by the Opposition Partido Popular (PP), a Catalan Independent Party (CIU), and left wing independent groups prove successful, the Alaro financing programme will be approved.
