By Staff Reporter PARENTS and students of the Scal School in Magalluf have launched a campaign to save their school, which according to some sources, could close early in the new year.

The private Spanish school in Calvia is suffering financial problems and the actual school building is in the process of being sold.
But parents of the 250 pupils are looking for a financial backer so that Scal can re-open at a new site. “We love the school and our children are very happy there. The lovely thing about Scal is that lessons are taught in Spanish with Catalan, English and German as secondary languages. We don´t want to send our children to another school,” one worried parent told the Bulletin yesterday. “It is a mixed nationality school with a dedicated group of teachers who even took a wage cut so that the school could continue. But now the financial situation has become even more complicated and for this reason we have decided to fight for our school before it closes.” Anybody wanting more information on the campaign to save Scal can contact vivian@calviaantiques.com.
