PALMA Local Police yesterday reported that 13 drivers involved in traffic accidents over Christmas failed alcohol tests.
A 40-strong Local Police team has been set up to crack down on drinking and driving this Christmas and New Year and between Christmas Eve and last night, 13 drivers have been caught for driving under the influence of alcohol in Palma.

The most serious of the spate of accidents happened on Christmas Eve and involved the 75-year-old director of the La Real Choir. He was apparently hit by a 33-year-old driver of a BMW who failed an alcohol test. Spokesperson for Palma Local Police, Juan Luis Sanchez, said yesterday that this has been one of the most accident-prone Christmas periods in recent years.
