NEWS DESK THE regional Ministry for Tourism signed an agreement yesterday with the Balearic Rural Hotels' Association, part of which aims to provide high tech communications to the sometimes isolated premises by way of internet and mobile phone reception. Minister Miquel Nadal said that it is a commitment of the tourism promotional vehicle “Inestur” to keep ongoing contact with the rural hotels ensuring that when such installations are completed, the hotel in question will be allocated a particular quality marker in its advertising material. Nadal commented yesterday that rural hotels, many of which are converted farm houses or manorial homes, have a special role to play in regional tourism because they actually conserve the original flavour of the landscape, both architecturally and from a cultural heritage standpoint. “Their success,” the Minister said “is evident as many British, German and Spanish visitors repeat their visits to such establishments.” Association president Ventura Rubí added that Balearic country hotels have shown to be “amongst the best in Europe.”
