PALMA
THE Mayor of Palma, Aina Calvo, yesterday presented the programme for this weekend's first “cycle party” which is going to be held in the centre of Palma.

As the Bulletin reported yesterday, the Sunday morning sporting and educational event, which is going to held on the final Sunday of every month during the summer, will involve the Avenidas being closed to traffic throughout the duration of the four-hour event although there will be special access and exit roads into the city centre open.

The cycle parties are part of the Palma City Council's drive to promote a network of cycle lanes, which is being continually expanded and improved, and to encourage more and more city residents to travel round the city by cycle.

The cycle parties will include a diverse variety of events and entertainment as well as Local Police road safety circuit and children's areas full of games.

Cycle maintenance and road safety workshops are also being organised to improve the conduct of cyclists on the roads.
