THE Majorcan International Film Festival (MAIFF) has finally been set up after a year of planning as an event to be launched in April of 2011.
The project which is being supported by the regional Ministry for Tourism and its development wing, the Balearic Institute for Tourism (IBATUR) will be given a high marketing profile both across Spain and abroad, including at next month's World Travel Market in London. The festival is principally being financed through private capital and will involve the global cinema industry and leading international screen stars.

The aim is to transform Majorca in to an international stage for famous faces, cinema directors and producers in order to boost the island's film industry, the Balearics as film location and also provide a forum for the industry to meet .
